Contemporary kitchen design is really making waves in the interior of many homes across the UK. One of the popular traits of contemporary kitchen design is the handleless kitchen. But how practical is the handleless kitchen? and what kind of choices are available. Here are MLS Kitchens we are Manchester’s leading kitchen design experts. As a result we have produced this guide to handleless kitchens.

Types of handleless doors

When it comes to handleless kitchen design, there are a two main options for handleless cabinet doors. Each of these come with their own advantages and disadvantages.

The inset design

A discreet inset handle allows your cabinets to retain their flush look while still being incredibly practical.

An inset handle can be almost invisible and they can be created to be as wide or as deep as necessary. The advantages of an inset handle include:

  • No visible handle to detract from the flat contemporary style
  • Easy to use and practical while still being stylish
  • Cheapest handleless option
  • Colour matched with the cabinet doors to blend in with the colour scheme

The touch design

Removing handles completely, the touch design is a fantastic and ultra modern way to appreciate handleless kitchens.

Opening on touch, the touch design kitchen usually also features soft close cabinets, so it’s easy to both open and close the touch design.

However, some of your cabinets will not be able to be fitted with touch technology. This includes pan drawers, appliance cupboards (hiding the fridge, dishwasher or washing machine), or pull out larders. For these doors you would be able to install an inset handle to maintain your handleless style.
