What are the different options for open kitchen shelf units?

Open shelf units in kitchens are a great way to add character and style to any classic, traditional, country or period kitchen. These can be used for effective storage or for displaying accessories and eye-catching kitchen features. There are a number of effective options for adding open shelf units to your kitchen, and these include:

  • Standalone shelf units- using a prebuilt shelf unit can be a good option for larger kitchen spaces with room for additional storage. These can stand against the wall in the kitchen, creating a helpful pantry style area, or a visual design feature that uses accessories to emphasize the interior design theme.
  • Wall shelves- wall shelves can be installed in helpful places around the kitchen, including between any gaps you might have between wall cabinet units, or above the sink. These can be very useful for items that are needed regularly, or can be used for a stunning display space.
  • Door-less cabinets- another effective option is to install one or more cabinets without a door. This means that the timberwork and joinery will match that of the rest of the kitchen for a stylish, stunning result. This can also work with lower cabinets, as well as upper wall cabinets. Choosing up to three of the cabinets to remain open can create the right balance, depending on the size of the kitchen.
